The phlebotomist collects blood and other specimens at the hospital and at outpatient draw sites; may provide administrative support to technical staff per established protocol, while exhibiting service excellence standards of behavior at all times. The phlebotomist at outpatient draw sites may register patients and specimens for lab testing, receives outpatients, and enters laboratory information system data.
Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy training course preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
- 6 months of specifically related patient care/services experience preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association
within 1 month of hire
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- General knowledge in the areas of medical information and laboratory safety is desired.
- Ability to effectively communicate patient information to physicians, office staff, and hospital employees.
- Ability to act as a clinical laboratory information resource to all customer groups.
- Ability to accurately transcribe and verbalize patient data.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of basic computer skills.
Pay Range: $16.60 - $24.64
